Chinese Premier Li Keqiang met here 26th afternoon with U.S. Transportation Secretary Elaine to visit China and attend the nineth meeting of the China-US Transport Forum. Li said that the development of a stable and healthy relationship between China and the United States is in the interests of both sides and the international community. President Xi Jinping has met and talked with President Trump many times, and the two sides should follow the important consensus reached by the two heads of State to correctly view China-US relations. As the world's largest developing and developed countries, China and the United States have strong economic complementarities.
It is hoped that the two sides will respect each other, equal consultation, broaden consensus and control differences, and promote steady progress of bilateral relations. Li pointed out that the Sino-US economic and trade cooperation is essentially mutual benefit. Trade conflicts have no winners and will affect the world's economic recovery and impact on the global industrial chain. For existing problems, sit down and talk and negotiate to find a solution. China attaches great importance to the US side's expressed hope that through dialogue and communication to resolve trade frictions, the door to negotiations is open. China will unswervingly expand its openness and have huge market potential. We hope that the world, including the United States, will seize the opportunity to share the opportunities brought by China's opening-up.
China is also willing to work with the U.S. side to promote practical cooperation in the areas of transport, including automatic driving. Elaine said it was a strong economic performance to congratulate the Chinese economy on maintaining a 6.8% per cent growth rate. In the framework of the Nineth meeting of the Transport Forum, the US and China have conducted fruitful consultations and exchanged in-depth views on new technologies such as safety and security, infrastructure and automatic driving. The US side looks forward to further strengthening practical cooperation in relevant fields with China. At present, the United States-China relations are at an important stage of development, and both sides are trying to overcome some difficulties and hope that the two sides will make positive achievements in their consultations on economic and trade issues.
